ABSTRACT

In recent years, due to the impact of COVID-19, the market prospect of non-contact handling has improved and the development potential is huge. This paper designs an intelligent truck based on Azure Kinect, which can save manpower and improve efficiency, and greatly reduce the infection risk of medical staff and community workers. The target object is visually recognized by Azure Kinect to obtain the center of mass of the target, and the GPS and Kalman filter are used to achieve accurate positioning. The 4-DOF robot arm is selected to grasp and transport the target object, so as to complete the non-contact handling work. In this paper, different shapes of objects are tested. The experiment shows that the system can accurately complete the positioning function, and the accuracy rate is 95.56%. The target object recognition is combined with the depth information to determine the distance, and the spatial coordinates of the object centroid are obtained in real time. The accuracy rate can reach 94.48%, and the target objects of different shapes can be recognized. When the target object is grasped by the robot arm, it can be grasped accurately according to the depth information, and the grasping rate reaches 92.67%. © 2023, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the physical and mental condition and medicine consumption of medical staff of shelter hospitals in Shanghai during the fight against the epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods A total of 144 frontline medical staff who fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic from a tertiary first-class hospital from Apr. 4 to May 12, 2022 were surveyed by questionnaires online. Their physical condition including body weight change before the medical work and one month later, sleep quality and the medicine consumption during the medical work were collected and analyzed. Results The mean body weight of frontline doctors before the medical work and one month later were (69.80+/-8.35) kg and (68.60+/-7.37) kg, while those of nurses were (55.36+/-8.27) kg and (53.80+/-7.38) kg, both showing a decreasing trend but without significant difference (all P0.05). A total of 63.89% (92/144) frontline medical staff suffered from insomnia, of which 27.08% (39/144) needed drug intervention. The top 5 common diseases among frontline medical staff were sleep disorder (63.89%, 92/144), skin injury (25.69%, 37/144), body pain (23.61%, 34/144), oral ulcer (13.19%, 19/144), and acute upper respiratory tract infection (9.72%, 14/144). A total of 155 medical staff used drugs, and the top 5 common drugs were skin application (16.77%, 26/155), Ganmao'an granule (12.26%, 19/155), zolpidem tartrate tablets (11.61%, 18/155), Kangfuxin liquid (11.61%, 18/155), and celecoxib capsules (8.39%, 13/155). Conclusion Frontline medical staff in shelter hospitals are prone to have body weight change, sleep disorder, skin injury, body pain, oral ulcer, acute upper respiratory tract infection and so on, which suggests that in future similar large-scale medical support, it is necessary to pay sufficient attention to the physical condition of frontline medical staff and provide them sufficient medicine.Copyright © 2022, Second Military Medical University Press. ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has spread around the world since 2019. Approximately 6.5% of COVID-19 a risk of developing severe disease with high mortality rate. To reduce the mortality rate and provide appropriate treatment, this research established an integrated models with to predict the clinical outcome of COVID-19 patients with clinical, deep learning and radiomics features. To obtain the optimal feature combination for prediction, 9 clinical features combination was selected from all available clinical factors after using LASSO, 18 deep learning features from U-Net architecture, and 9 radiomics features from segmentation result. A total of 213 COVID-19 patients and 335 non-COVID-19 patients from 5 hospitals were enrolled and used as training and test sample in this research. The proposed model obtained an accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, F1-score and ROC curve of 0.971, 0.943, 0.937, 0.974, 0.941 and 0.979, respectively, which exceeds the related work using only clinical, deep learning or radiomics factors. © 2023 SPIE.

ABSTRACT

Recent studies in the epidermis have shown that Far-UVC (200-230nm) is a promising candidate against Novel Coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2) with little DNA damage. Due to the consideration that conventional Far-UVC KrCl excilamps may emit 200-230 nm radiation (typically 222-nm peak wavelength) but with some harmful UV radiation beyond 230 to 280 nm, a novel design of Far-UVC KrCl excilamps with the filter and reflector is introduced to reduce the harmful UV radiation from 10.9% to 2.5% at the cost of 30%similar to 40% reduction in the total irradiance. In our study, the radiant characteristics and service life of the novel Far-UVC KrCl excilamps of 40 similar to 75 Watt (electrical power) with 222-nm peak wavelength were investigated. The service life was assessed under aging at the ambient temperatures (T-a) of 25 degrees C and 85 degrees C for 500 hours, respectively. The results showed that both the ambient temperature and the root mean square of current (I-rms) into the excilamps have a substantial effect on the lifetime of the KrCl excilamps. Furthermore, although no significant change of the off-nominal emission ratio existed during the lifetime test, it was observed that the high ambient temperature has a negative effect on the filtering of the harmful radiation.

ABSTRACT

The inactivation ability of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) was examined using two types of transparent Cu2O thin films with different crystallinities on a Na-free glass substrate. The low-crystallinity Cu2O thin film, which was fabricated by irradiating 254 nm ultraviolet (UV)-light with an intensity of 6.72 mW cm(-2) onto a spin-coated precursor film involving Cu2+ complexes at room temperature, exhibited an outstanding COVID-19 inactivation ability to reduce 99.999% of the virus after 1 h of incubation. The X-ray diffraction results of the UV-irradiated thin film indicated a cubic Cu2O lattice with a small crystallite size of 2 +/- 1 nm. Conversely, the high-crystallinity Cu2O thin film with a crystallite size of 16 +/- 3 nm, obtained by heating a spin-coated precursor film containing another Cu2+ complex, showed a negligibly low inactivation activity at the same level as the Na-free glass substrate. The eluted concentrations of Cu ions from both Cu2O thin films were analyzed after immersion in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM) for 0.25-2 h. The eluted Cu-ion concentration of 1.16 ppm was observed for the UV-irradiated thin film by DMEM immersion after 1 h, but that of 0.04 ppm was observed for the heat-treated thin film. This indicated that an important factor of virus inactivation on Cu2O thin films is highly related to the elution of Cu ions that occurred from the surface in the medium.

ABSTRACT

Local governments are enhancing their governance through various information communication technologies (ICTs). This article presents an exploratory case study of three municipalities within the United States, examining how each applies YouTube for communication. Using content analysis and selected statistical tests of mean difference, the authors analyzed the videos uploaded between January 2020 to August 2020. The three municipalities used YouTube to document policymaking, publicize programs and services, update critical information during times of crises, and, in some cases, create unique brand images. The average number of views per video were similar across the three YouTube channels. However, one of the municipalities received a statistically significant number of average likes per video, which spotlights its positive brand image. In conclusion, the authors suggest directions for future research and recommend practices for social media adaptation in government.

ABSTRACT

Background Taletrectinib is a potent, next-generation, CNS-active, ROS1 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) with selectivity over TRKB. In previous reports from TRUST-I, taletrectinib showed meaningful clinical efficacy and was well tolerated in pts with ROS1+ NSCLC (n = 109) regardless of crizotinib (CRZ) pretreatment status. We report updated efficacy and safety data with ~1.5 yr follow-up. Methods TRUST-I is a multicenter, open-label, single-arm study with two cohorts: ROS1 TKI-naive and CRZ-pretreated. Pts in both cohorts received taletrectinib 600 mg QD. Key study endpoints included IRC-confirmed ORR (cORR), DoR, disease control rate (DCR), PFS, and safety. A pooled analysis of ORR, PFS, and safety including pts from additional clinical trials was also conducted. Results In the 109 pts from TRUST-I (enrolled prior to Feb 2022) the median follow-up was 18.0 mo in TKI-naive (n = 67) and 16.9 mo in CRZ-pretreated pts (n = 42). cORR was 92.5% in TKI-naive and 52.6% in CRZ-pretreated pts (table). Median DoR (mDoR) and mPFS were not reached. Intracranial-ORR was 91.6%;ORR in pts with G2032R was 80.0%. In a pooled analysis with phase I studies, ORR was 89.5% and 50.0% for TKI-naive and CRZ-pretreated pts, respectively;mPFS was 33.2 mo and 9.8 mo. In 178 pts treated at 600 mg QD, treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) were 92.7%;most (64.0%) were grade 1-2. The most common TEAEs were increased AST (60.7%), increased ALT (55.6%), and diarrhea (55.6%). Neurological TEAEs (dizziness, 18.5%;dysgeusia, 12.4%) and discontinuations due to TEAEs (3.4%) were low. Further updated results will be presented. [Formula presented] Conclusions With additional follow-up, taletrectinib continued to demonstrate meaningful efficacy outcomes including high response rates, prolonged PFS, robust intracranial activity, activity against G2032R, and tolerable safety with low incidence of neurological AEs. ABSTRACT

The pandemics such as COVID-19 are worldwide health risks and result in catastrophic impacts on the global economy. To prevent the spread of pandemics, it is critical to trace the contacts between people to identify the infection chain. Nevertheless, the privacy concern is a great challenge to contact tracing. Moreover, existing contact tracing apps cannot obtain the macro-level infection risk information, e.g., the hotspots where the infection occurs, which, however, is critical to optimize healthcare planning to better control and prevent the outbreak of pandemics. In this paper, we develop a novel privacy-preserved pandemic tracing system, PRISC, to compute the infection risk through cellular-enabled IoT devices. In the PRISC system, there are three parties: a mobile network operator, a social network provider, and the health department. The physical contact records between users are obtained by the mobile network operator from the users’cellular-enabled IoT devices. The social contacts are obtained by the social network provider, while the health department has the records of pandemic patients. The three parties work together to compute a heatmap of pandemic infection risk in a region, while fully protecting the data privacy of each other. The heatmap provides both macro and micro level infection risk information to help control pandemics. The experiment results indicate that PRISC can compute an infection risk score within a couple of seconds and a few mega-bytes (MBs) communication cost, for datasets with 100,000 users. IEEE

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: We aim to understand the impact of the COVID-19 on health care utilization and oral health conditions of patients at federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), where patients are disproportionately low income, publicly insured, or uninsured. METHODS: Using deidentified electronic health records of patients at FQHCs in the United States from January 2019 through December 2020 (n = 431,509), variations in health care utilization since the COVID-19 outbreak were observed by procedure types and patient characteristics. Changes in dental utilization and oral health conditions were characterized using mixed-effect negative binomial and logistic regression models. RESULTS: Dental utilization decreased more drastically than medical utilization during shelter-in-place periods in 2020 and rebounded more slowly after the reopening. Greater demands for oral surgery and teledentistry and less demands for preventive services were observed in 2020. As compared to 2019, patients experienced more psychological stress-related dental conditions with odds ratios of 1.52 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.31-1.76) for uninsured, 1.48 (95% CI, 1.07-2.02) for Medicaid enrollees, and 2.38 (95% CI, 1.68-3.40) for private insurance beneficiaries. CONCLUSION: As a result of COVID-19, patients received more invasive dental procedures due to delayed treatment and experienced a higher risk of psychological stress-related dental conditions. Continued support for statewide policies to expand access to oral health care and oral health promotion strategies for the vulnerable populations would be encouraged. KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER STATEMENT: Our study describes the impact of COVID-19 on dental care use and oral health conditions at Federally Qualified Health Centers, targeted to provide care for some of the most vulnerable populations in the United States. The results of this retrospective cohort study can be used by clinicians and policymakers on understanding the clinical needs of the vulnerable populations after the pandemic. It highlights the need for continued support to expand access to oral health care and oral health promotion to these populations.

ABSTRACT

Background: The phase 3, randomised True North (TN) study demonstrated the efficacy and safety of ozanimod for up to 52 weeks in patients (pts) with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC). The ongoing TN open-label extension (OLE) aims to assess the long-term efficacy and safety of ozanimod in UC. This analysis evaluated the cumulative long-term safety of ozanimod in these studies, which included pts with up to ~3 years of treatment exposure. Method(s): In TN, pts were randomised to once-daily ozanimod 0.92 mg or placebo, or to open-label ozanimod for a 10-week induction period. Ozanimod clinical responders were rerandomised at Week 10 to ozanimod or placebo in the maintenance period through Week 52. TN pts were eligible to enrol in the OLE and receive ozanimod if they did not achieve clinical response at the end of induction (Week 10), lost response during maintenance, or completed maintenance at Week 52. This interim analysis of the TN OLE (data cutoff: 10 January 2022) included all pts who entered the OLE from TN (n=823). Safety was monitored from the first dose of ozanimod in TN and throughout the subsequent OLE. Exposureadjusted incidence rates per 100 patient-years (PY) were calculated. Result(s): The average age of TN OLE study participants was 41.7 years (+/-13.6), 41% were female, 62% had left-sided UC disease, and 35% had prior exposure to tumor necrosis factor inhibitors. Total PY exposure to ozanimod was 2219 years (mean [SD] exposure = 2.7 [1.6]). The most frequent treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) reported through OLE Week 94 (up to 146 weeks of continuous treatment) are listed in the Table. Most TEAEs were nonserious;TEAEs leading to discontinuation were uncommon. Bradycardia was reported in 3 pts (0.4%;EAIR 0.1/100 PY;2 in TN and 1 in OLE;no pts were discontinued from treatment). Macular edema was reported in 2 (0.2%;EAIR 0.1/100 PY) pts. Reductions in ALC were common (470 [57.1%] had ALC < 500 cells/mm3), as previously described, but ALC reductions were not associated with the occurrence of TEAEs. Malignancies were uncommon (n=13 [1.6%];EAIR 0.6/100 PY), and included 6 basal cell carcinomas and 3 colorectal neoplasms. Two deaths were reported: 1 due to COVID-19 and 1 sudden death. Investigators deemed both to be unrelated to treatment. Ozanimod was not associated with an increased risk of ischemic heart disease or thromboembolic events. Conclusion(s): Long-term exposure to ozanimod for up to 3 years was well tolerated in pts with moderately to severely active UC. No new safety signals were observed with long-term ozanimod use in UC (2219 PY exposure). Safety findings are consistent with previous reports from the UC and multiple sclerosis development programs (>16,512 PY exposure). (Table Presented).

ABSTRACT

Introduction: COVID-19 pandemic has been associated with increased rates of de-pression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Individuals with mental illnesses are disproportionately affected by additional complex health issues. This study aims to examine the knowledge and impact of COVID-19 among patients with mental disorders at the Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC). Method(s): A retrospective review of surveys was conducted for patients with mental illness at HCPC. Participants were surveyed on demographics, COVID-19 knowledge, and COVID-19 healthcare impact. The data were analyzed with SPSS 20 for Windows at a 0.05 significance level. Result(s): A total of 46 patients were included in the study. We found that the patient population with mental disorders has different methods of obtaining information regarding COVID-19 and practices varying safety measures. To be precise, more women (52.2%) than men (21.7%) learned about COVID-19 through family and friends (p=0.032). More Hispanic (21.4%) compared to non-Hispanic (0%) patients learned about COVID-19 through resources from the World Health Organization (WHO) (p=0.032). Fewer African American (AA) patients avoided contact with people who were sick (39% vs. 81%) Caucasian (p=0.01) and (100%) Asian/Native American/Pacific Islander [ANAPI] patients (p=0.04). We found more non-Hispanic (50.0%) vs. Hispanic (7.1%) patients reported that their personal time (time outside of work) was unchanged by COVID-19 (p=0.007). More Hispanic (57.1%) vs. non-Hispanic (17.9%) patients reported increased time with family members (p=0.009). Compared to Hispanic patients, more non-Hispanic patients reported unchanged difficulty scheduling appoint-ments (46.4% vs. 7.1%) (p=0.015), obtaining prescription (71.4% vs. 35.7%) (p=0.045), and finding housing placement (53.6% vs. 21.4%) (p=0.047). Furthermore, more Caucasian compared to AA patients reported more changes in how they feel (35.7% vs. 76.2%) (p=0.033), anxiety (52.6% vs. 0%) (p=0.002), stress (47.4% vs. 7.7%) (p=0.024), and sadness (30% vs. 0%) (p=0.031). Finally, more ANAPI (67%) compared to AA patients (0%) reported increased anxiety (p=0.025). Conclusion(s): Our findings suggest that African American patients report less knowledge of COVID-19 prevention and less impact on their mental health by the pandemic compared to other racial groups. Our findings suggest that African American patients may have limited knowledge of COVID-19 prevention compared to other races, Caucasian and Asian/Native American/Pacific Islander patients may have increased mood changes, and Hispanic patients may be experiencing more healthcare inequality amidst the pandemic. ABSTRACT

News events are often associated with quantities (e.g., the number of COVID-19 patients or the number of arrests in a protest), and it is often important to extract their type, time, and location from unstructured text in order to analyze these quantity events. This paper thus formulates the NLP problem of spatiotemporal quantity extraction, and proposes the first meta-framework for solving it. This meta-framework contains a formalism that decomposes the problem into several information extraction tasks, a shareable crowdsourcing pipeline, and transformer-based baseline models. We demonstrate the meta-framework in three domains-the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter protests, and 2020 California wildfires-to show that the formalism is general and extensible, the crowdsourcing pipeline facilitates fast and high-quality data annotation, and the baseline system can handle spatiotemporal quantity extraction well enough to be practically useful. ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the application value of third-generation dual-source CT(3-G DSCT) low-dose scan mode combined with iterative reconstruction technology in the screening of COVID-19 and to evaluate the radiation dose. Method(s): One hundred and twenty patients suspected of COVID-19 from December 2019 to February 2020 were retrospectively analysed and randomly divided into two groups (test group and conventional group, 60 patients in each). The parameters for test group included 3-G DSCT, Turbo Flash scan mode, CARE kV, with reference 90 kV, pitch 2.0, and ADMIRE algorithm, while those parameters for conventional group included the 128-slice CT, conventional spiral scan mode, 120 kV, pitch 1.2, and FBP algorithm. The CT values of aorta, spinal posterior muscle, and subcutaneous fat, the aortic noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and contrast noise ratio (CNR) were compared to evaluate the image quality between two groups. Two experienced doctors scored the image quality using a double-blind method, and compared the CT dose index volume (CTDIvol), dose-length product (DLP), and effective dose (E) of the two groups. Result(s): The CT value of the aorta and spinal posterior muscle and the aortic SNR in the test group were (45.38+/-4.77), (53.41+/-8.44) HU, and 2.82+/-0.59, and significantly higher than those in the conventional group [(39.68+/-6.26), (42.66+/-6.32) HU, 2.58+/-0.61, t=5.608, 7.897, 2.162, P<0.05]. The aortic noise, CNR and subjective scores between the two groups had no significant difference( P>0.05). The CTDIvol, DLP, and E in the test group were (3.09+/-1.02) mGy, (107.57+/-32.81) mGy*cm, (1.51+/-0.46) mSv, significantly lower than those in the conventional group [(7.00+/-1.80) mGy, (261.65+/-73.93) mGy*cm, (3.66+/-1.03) mSv;t=-14.680, -14.756, -14.756, P<0.05]. Conclusion(s): In the screening of COVID-19, using low-dose scanning mode of 3-G DSCT combined with iterative reconstruction technology would provide diagnostic quality images and meanwhile effectively reduce the radiation dose and improve the SNR of the image.Copyright © 2020 by the Chinese Medical Association.

Mental stress has been recognized as an essential risk factor for hypertension. Therefore, experts specializing in cardiology, psychiatry, and Traditional Chinese Medicine organized by the Psycho-cardiology Group, College of Cardiovascular Physicians of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and Hypertension Group of the Chinese Society of Cardiology proposed the expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of adult mental stress-induced hypertension in March 2021, which includes the epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of the mental stress-induced hypertension. This consensus will hopefully facilitate the clinical practice of this disorder. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the primary global sources of psychosocial stressors since the beginning of 2020, and the revision of this expert consensus in 2022 has increased the relevant content. This consensus consists of two parts. The sections of Part A include (I) Background and epidemiological characteristics, (II) Pathogenesis, and (III) Diagnosis. ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore a low dose CT scanning method on novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pneumonia based on infection prevention and control. Method(s): A total of 140 patients with confirmed novel coronavirus pneumonia in Xiehe hospital from January 20, 2020 to February 28, 2020 were undertaken CT scan and divided into low dose group and conventional dose group. The patients in low dose group(120 kV, 31 mAs) consisted of mild type(51), severe type(15) and critically ill type(4);and those in conventional dose group(120 kv, adaptive milliampere second) consisted of mild type(48), severe type(17) and critically ill type(5). The effective radiation dose, SNR and CNR of CT scan were compared between two groups. A senior and a middle radiologist made the image subjective quality scores, respectively. Result(s): The effective dose in low dose group was lower than that of conventional dose group(t=-48.343, P<0.05). There was no significant difference in SNR and CNR between two groups(P>0.05). For severe and critically ill patients, the score in low dose group was significantly lower than that in conventional dose group(t=-2.781, P<0.05). There was no significant difference in scores between two groups for mild patients(P>0.05). Conclusion(s): Low-dose CT scanning could meet the image quality needs for patients with COVID-19 and meanwhile significantly reduce the radiation dose.Copyright © 2020 by the Chinese Medical Association.

ABSTRACT

The primary goals of this study are to determine if the datasets of positive COVID-19 test cases and CO2 emissions from Connecticut over the span of March 24th, 2020-October 31, 2021 are in any ways correlated. With climate change a prominent issue facing the entire world today, it is important to explore methods of providing records of past patterns of greenhouse gas emissions in order to inform decision making that could reduce future ones. Autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) modeling is also implemented in this paper to provide forecasting based on CO2 emissions in CT starting from 2019. The most significant results from this paper are as follows: the CO2 emission data of transportation sectors including ground transportation, domestics aviation, and international aviation and weekly COVID-19 positive test cases data has a strong relationship during the first 28 weeks of the pandemic with a correlation of -86.34%. The CO2 emissions experienced on average a -22.96% change of pre-pandemic vs during initial quarantine conditions and at most a - 44.48% change when comparing the pre-pandemic mean to the during initial quarantine minimum value. Lastly, the ARIMA model found to have the lowest Akaike information criterion (AIC) was ARIMA (4,0,4). In conclusion, in the event of a collective global pandemic and lockdown conditions, less traveling resulting in a correlated decrease of CO2 emissions. This means that perhaps concentrated efforts on reducing unnecessary travel could help mitigate the levels of carbon dioxide emissions as a more long-term solution to climate change opposed to the pandemic's short-term example. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Since February 9th, 2020, the mobile CT in Jianghan mobile cabin hospital had begun to be used for scanning patients with COVID-19.The mobile CT has played an irreplaceable role in clinical diagnosis with its unique advantages. During CT scanning, the technicians should not only ensure that the patients receive the radiation dose as low as possible, but also be aware of the importance of the infection prevention and control.
